The Transparent Story

It all started with a broken window.

Vince Smith, the Oak Park owner and operator of Transparent Window & Glass Company recalls when he was 8 years old, “I broke a window at home and took it upon myself to fix it. My father had a glass shop on Madison in Chicago, and we had some stock sheets in the garage. Eventually my dad got home and gave me my first lesson in glass cutting.”

Like his father, Vince’s grandfather had his own shop on Irving Park in Wood Dale, IL called A-1 Glass. “My grandfather always taught me the importance of quality and doing a job right” says Vince. In 2018 Vince decided to take up the torch and carry on the family craft, opening Transparent Window & Glass Company in Oak Park, IL.

Glass has always been a part of Vince’s life. In fact, a routine job call led him to Amabel. They’re now married with 2 young kids. Vince and his team continue to apply the lessons he learned growing up and put a focus on quality. Today Vince enjoys educating clients on windows and the satisfaction that comes from completing a job and seeing the joy that new windows bring his customers.
